Thanks to all the in-coming freshmen students and parents who attended last night's information meeting. I know we probably gave you an overwhelming amount of information, but I also hope that you left feeling a little more assured. Change is not always easy to handle no matter the situation; please rest assured that it will get easier.
For the past 4 years our program has shown steady continued growth. This is due in large part because of community support. The district has also been incredibly supportive and shares in our efforts. We (EPHS) try our best to create and maintain a program that you can be proud to be affiliated with.
Attached to this blog entry is a downloadable copy of the Power Point that was presented last night. We have corrected the slides that were incorrect with regards to the Advanced seal of Bi-litercy piece. Please feel free to download it.
As noted at the meeting last evening, you should receive a registration packet in the mail in mid-July. If you do not receive a packet by the last week of July, please call the school and request one (496-8300).
El Paso HS Dual Language Magnet will graduate 22 Seniors this year; they are:
CWMU Seniors were presented with their completion medals at the Senior Cap and Gown Ceremony held on May 23rd. They were also honored at the End-of-Year Dual Language Banquet with senior memory video. The banquet was held on May 30th.
Good Luck Seniors: We love you, We will miss you and we know you will make us proud :)
Congratulations to all the GT Independent students for a successful showing this year! Their projects were covered a wide range of topics. Daniela Barrio's project raised awareness about Post Traumatic Stress among the military and facilitated a fundraising campaign via an orchestra concert. Daniela Balarezo created an advocacy campaign about current immigration issues. Alex Lewis' project raised money for El Paso High School's CRC program. Sarah Gonzalez's work with the Therapeutic Horsemanship of El Paso also raised funds to sponsor students to participate in the program. And finally, Hannah Hollandbyrd's project looked at the transparency and accessibility of 7 local government entities. Hannah's project received top district honors for "Outstanding Achievement for Most Authentic to Field of Study." Daniela Balarezo also received top district honors for "Outstanding Achievement in Confronting Social Issues." Congratulations everyone!
