Dual Language Girls! here's a great opportunity  for you!!

Latinitas is a nonprofit organization that is committed to empowering Latina youth to build confidence. This year, we will be hosting our annual Teen Leadership Institute where young Latinas can begin their transformation to reach their full potential as caring leaders in the community. We are reaching out to community leaders such as yourself to recommend this opportunity to young women who you feel would be a good candidate for this Institute. Membership is open to Latina teens in grades 9th through 12th.

The institute will consist of monthly workshops on leadership methods, decision making skills, goal setting ideas, public speaking, civic engagement and volunteering. The institute will last for the entire semester.  This leadership program is aimed at encouraging and motivating teenage girls to make a difference in their community through leadership, advocacy, self-expression, activism, social justice and volunteerism. Young women will engage in several interactive and entertaining activities that will help them identify and cultivate their own leadership abilities. Although educational, we also try to make the workshops fun for the teen girls. Participants will attend monthly classes, go on field trips, meet positive female role models, be connected to mentors, learn about their cultural heritage, discover new ways to build confidence and explore their own strengths.

We will be holding an informational sessions on January 17 at 5:30pm-6:30pm and January 18 at 11:00am-12:00pm at the Latinitas Office, 10935 Ben Crenshaw Suite #207.

To help kick off the institute, we will host a full day conference on January 25 at the Jose Cisneros Library, 501 N. Oregon St., where we plan to show the girls how much community help is needed, what kind of leaders they can become, how they can make a big impact and what is to be expected of them through this Leadership Institute.

The deadline to submit completed applications is January 18.  Members must be willing to commit to attending bi-weekly workshops.  Applications can be submitted through email at latinitaselpaso@yahoo.com or by mail or in person at 10935 Ben Crenshaw, Suite #207.  For more information, call 915.219.8554 or visit www.LatinitasMagazine.org.

We thank you for helping us identify young women with strong potential to excel as the next generation of community leaders in the El Paso region.  Together, we can help inspire young women to realize their full leadership potential and make a difference in our community.  We look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Respectfully,

Alicia Rascon
